But just as every piece is crafted with care, it also requires your tender loving care to maintain its allure over time.

Whether you're a seasoned collector or a novice enthusiast, these care techniques will ensure that your jewelry collection remains as vibrant as the day you discovered it.
Before we plunge into the delicate art of caring for your handmade treasures, it's essential to grasp the essence of what makes these jewels distinct.
Handmade jewelry stands apart with its unique artisanal quality and craftsmanship. Each piece tells a story, crafted with precision by skilled artisans who invest their time, technique, and spirit into every detail. The result is a work of art that resonates with its wearer on a profound level.

The Art of CleaningRegular cleaning is the first line of defense against the tarnishing and dulling that can occur with basic wear over time. Here's how to clean different types of materials effectively:
Polishing Cloths:
A gentle polishing cloth designed for silver and any metal can often make tarnish disappear without any liquid.
(My favorite is Sunshine brand Cloths and you can find them in jewelry shops online and Amazon)
Liquid Cleaners: Silver cleaners can be very effective, but be sure to follow instructions carefully, and avoid any contact with gemstones, as these solutions are too harsh for delicate stones.
If your piece has been oxidized to provide contrast then most cleaners are a no no as they will strip the sterling of this special oxidization. Personally I always recommend a simple polishing cloth first and foremost
I never recommend ultrasonic cleaners as they can wreak havoc on porous stones and certain soft gemstones such as moonstone, opal and pearls don’t do well in ultrasonic cleaners. Heavily included or porous gemstones, including tourmaline, and emeralds (which is sometimes treated with oil and fillers to conceal internal flaws) should never be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner.
In general, just avoid them!
Proper storage is a jewelry care practice often overlooked but is crucial in preventing scratches and tangles.
How you handle your jewelry can make just as much of an impact as how you clean and store it.
Many commercial jewelry-cleaning products contain chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. Here are some eco-friendly alternatives:

With limited suitcase space, it's crucial to be strategic in selecting the pieces that will accompany you and at the same time, take into consideration the tropical climate, and reflecting your personal style while staying comfortable and chic.
Versatility and Simplicity:
When it comes to packing jewelry for a tropical getaway, less is often more. Opt for versatile pieces that effortlessly transition from day to night and beach to bar, such as gold drop earrings, a single chunky link necklace, 2-3 stacking cuff bracelets, and a single statement ring, or consider a themed single jewelry set that is predominantly gold and will go with all your outfits. These timeless classics can be worn together or individually, and add a touch of artistic flair to any outfit.
Practicality:
In the tropical climate, it is essential to consider the practicality of the jewelry you pack. Avoid taking pieces that are too delicate or easily tarnished due to the humidity and exposure to saltwater. Opt for luxury jewelry with pure solid materials, like solid gold and platinum, that can withstand the elements. I would avoid bringing brass, copper or sterling silver jewelry as the salt water can cause changes in the surface of these metals. Additionally, consider packing jewelry pouches or travel cases to keep your pieces organized and protected during your trip.
Personal style:
While considering versatility and practicality, don't forget to reflect your personal style through the jewelry you choose to pack. Whether you prefer dainty and minimalist pieces or bold statement jewelry, perhaps bring handmade jewelry with a story that resonate with your style and make you feel comfortable and confident. Don't be afraid to mix in colorful pieces that can add a pop of personality to your tropical outfits.
Curate Meaningful Pieces
Your jewelry has the power to tell a story, so why not choose pieces that hold special significance or sentimental value? Whether it's a family heirloom passed down through generations or a souvenir picked up during your travels, these cherished treasures add an extra layer of meaning to your vacation ensemble and serve as beautiful reminders of the memories you've created.
Protect Your Investments
Finally, don't forget to take precautions to protect your precious jewelry while traveling. Invest in a travel jewelry organizer or pouch to keep your pieces organized and secure during transit. Additionally, be mindful of where you store your jewelry while if you’re not wearing it out with you. If you plan to bring treasured pieces, call ahead to ensure that the hotel room or rental home has a safe that is bolted down that can store your valuables when you are not wearing them.
As you prepare for your tropical adventure, remember that the true essence of jewelry lies not in its monetary value, but in the memories and emotions it evokes. So pack thoughtfully, embrace the beauty of simplicity, and let your jewelry serve as a reflection of your radiant spirit

I simply use photoshop to brighten photos, remove dust or background distractions and shadows and crop for listings and publications. As an artisan bench jeweler who creates with traditional tools and techniques, I relish in the beauty and the reality that comes with handcrafted and one of a kind jewelry!
I thought it might be fun to explore how to do a little photoshop correctly…
In the tapestry of our memories, there are moments of pure joy and laughter, captured forever in the snapshots we hold dear. Yet, imperfections sometimes find their way into our photos—a blink here, a frown there. But with Adobe Photoshop as our tool, we have the power to combine the best elements from multiple photos, creating a masterpiece that preserves the magic of our special moments in all their perfection.
Begin by selecting the photos you wish to blend together, ensuring that each image contains the people or aspects you wish to combine (is everyone smiling, no one blinking, no one’s hair is crazy)
Pay close attention to lighting, composition and alignment, ensuring that the images will blend seamlessly together. For example, don't bring a photo together that was captured in bright sun with one that was captured in shade, or a low resolution, blurry photo with a high resolution crisp photo. It’s best to use photos that were from a series in the same location, lighting and time.
In the heart of every photo lies a story—a moment frozen in time, filled with beauty, color, love, and cherished memories and scenes. With Adobe Photoshop as our guide, we have the power to enhance these photos, blending the best elements from different photos to create a portrait of perfection. So embrace the journey of creation, and may your memories shine bright for years to come.

Handcrafted, artisanal jewelry ensures a fair wage and safe working conditions as these factors are set and ensured by the artisans themselves.
Ethically sourced materials in fine jewelry are an important consideration, and when the artisans alone control the sourcing of each and every metal and gem that they incorporate into their work, it often leads to a greater traceability and assurance that they are ethically sourced materials.

“Quiet Luxury” is on everyone’s lips. So what is it and how does your jewelry fit in?
Quiet luxury is true luxury that doesn’t slap you in the face to present itself. The logos aren’t big, gaudy or flashy. It doesn’t scream “look at me”.… it’s quiet. It is not an easily identifiable brand, it’s subtle. It becomes apparent to you through its fine craftsmanship, it’s high quality materials, and it’s understated elegance. This isn’t the place for big logo pieces and huge patterns. Think less bang but more power.
Fine, artistic jewelry that is made by skilled craftsmen… and craftswomen (of course!) has a strong place in the quiet luxury movement. Our logos aren’t the defining design, and that is our strength here.
Look closely at jewelry from the experienced, independent artisan to fit into quiet luxury. The craftsmanship is unparalleled, high quality, thick and weighty solid gold, strong construction, high end gemstones (with a bit of color but not overstated).
The jewelry pieces that fit into the quiet luxury space are going to be heirloom pieces built to last for centuries. Not minimalist, but definitely not in-your-face gaudy. It’s pieces that are going to compliment many different outfits and be the ones you go back to over and over again for a lifetime and that remain a favorite staple.
So, is your jewelry ready for the quiet luxury movement?
